Jazz Gumbo Radio Show w/ Jazz Historian Dave Robinson

As the song says, “I’m all about that bass, ’bout that bass, no treble.” That bass is, indeed, the deep-voiced timekeeper of jazz. It’s the subject of the Potomac River Jazz Club’s May 12, Zoom Talk on Jazz, highlighting great artists such as Slam Stewart, Ron Carter, and more. The presenter is Dr. Philip Ravita a versatile and sought after bassist himself. When he’s not on the bandstand, Dr. Ravita is a university jazz and classical music professor.
The event takes place Monday May 12th @ 7 pm- 8:15 pm EASTERN time. 
As with all our jazz talks, you have to pre-register before 5:00 pm Eastern, the night of the program to receive the link. Our jazz talk series are always offered for free, but we appreciate any donation made at the time of registration to offset the cost of producing the program. Zoom link is emailed to you shortly before it begins.

All year long, InterAct Story Theatre artists create stories with kids, and invite them to share their epic stories with us. This May, we’re choosing some of our favorite stories written by kids, as we present a series of short plays and stories performed by our InterActors. We can’t wait to see what kids dream up each year! Best for ages 4 and up. There will be two performances at Highland Elementary School, 3100 Medway Street, Wheaton, MD 20902: Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, May 17 at 2 p.m. FREE and open to the public! No tickets or registration needed.
