• $4.6 Million Construction Permit Issued for Upcoming 49,000 SF Round1 Entertainment Venue (mocoshow.com) — A new Round1 Bowling & Arcade is moving forward at Westfield Wheaton, with a $4.6 million construction permit issued for a 49,000-square-foot venue. Wheaton residents can expect bowling, Japanese arcade games, karaoke, billiards, and a full food and bar menu, though the exact opening date sometime in fiscal 2027 has not yet been set.
   

• Inaugural MoCo Smoke Show Brings Barbeque Culture and Competition to Downtown Wheaton on Saturday, Oct. 17 (thebaynet.com) — Downtown Wheaton will host the first-ever MoCo Smoke Show barbecue festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2424 Reedie Drive. Residents can enjoy a free, family-friendly day with KCBS-sanctioned competitions, people's choice tastings, live entertainment, kids' activities, and local vendors while supporting Wheaton's diverse food businesses.
   

• Montgomery Parks recognizes Weed Warrior volunteers for their invaluable work of removing non-native invasive plants from parkland (montgomeryparks.org) — Montgomery Parks, based in Wheaton, is celebrating four standout Weed Warrior volunteers who help remove invasive plants and protect local parkland. The program, which mobilized over 2,200 volunteers last year, saves the county significant resources while improving natural areas, and residents are encouraged to learn more or join future Weed Warrior events.
