Former State Police Union Head, Ex-lobbyist Sentenced For Kickback Scheme
Two people who held high positions in the State Police Association of Massachusetts were resentenced on numerous crimes that involved defrauding the organization. Former SPAM President Dana Pullman and current Union President Anne Lynch were both sentenced to prison for charges dating back to 2022. In November of that year, Pullman and Lynch were convicted by a federal jury of racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Pullman was also convicted of aiding and assisting in the filing of a false tax return. But in June 2025, the First Circuit Court of Appeals reversed three of the pairs' wire fraud convictions and some of Lynch’s convictions. The First Circuit affirmed the defendants’ remaining convictions and remanded the case to the District Court for resentencing.

A report by Visual Capitalist finds that households typically must rank in the top 10% of earners to be labeled “rich,” but the income needed to reach that tier varies widely depending on the state they reside in. The income it takes to be considered rich in Massachusetts — and across the country — is climbing sharply as wealth thresholds rise and geography continues to shape economic power. Massachusetts is among some of the highest income thresholds.
