Latest Snow Threat Spurs Parking Bans Across MA: See Final Totals
Despite light-to-moderate totals for most of the state, many cities and towns chose to implement another parking ban on Tuesday.
Cities and towns across eastern and central Massachusetts implemented snow emergency parking bans on Tuesday night — despite predictions of 4 or fewer inches of snow for most of the region — to the surprise of many residents growing weary of the persistent snow disruptions this winter.
Many of the municipalities — including those on the North Shore where more than a foot of snow fell just this past weekend — claimed the bans had become necessary for any plow operations with streets already narrowed by large snow banks that have barely budged over a month of freezing temperatures.
Snow totals were mostly light overall, with the jackpot once again being the North Shore, where Gloucester checked in at 6 inches of snow.
