Volunteers now aim to modernize the long-closed basement into much-needed community space, preserving a beloved historic church while potentially restoring one of Adams’ few gathering places.
   

• Police respond to 'critical incident' on Houghton Street in North Adams (berkshireeagle.com) — North Adams police and regional agencies handled a late-night “critical incident” on Houghton Street without fatalities, briefly blocking nearby roads while negotiators and a drone-assisted response secured the scene. The chief also highlighted growing mental-health call volumes and a joint grant effort with Adams and Williamstown to build a regional crisis-response program that could change how local residents receive help.
   

• Louison House Community Picnic and Fundraiser (iberkshires.com) — Adams residents are invited to a June 20 baseball-themed picnic at Windsor Lake in North Adams benefiting Louison House, with food donated by Bounti-Fair in Adams. Expect lunch, games, raffles, and appearances by the SteepleCats and local baseball and softball graduates, with proceeds supporting housing and social services.
