Women's Body Recovered From North Shore Water: Essex DA

The Essex DA's Office said the woman's body was taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.

NEWBURY, MA — A woman's body was recovered from the water on the North Shore on Thursday.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said police responded to a call about a body possibly being in the water near Harvard Way in Newbury late Thursday morning.

The Newburyport Fire Department recovered the body north of Fordham Way in Newbury.

The body was brought to the state Chief Medical Examiner's office to determine a cause of death.

The Essex DA's Office did not identify the victim as of Friday morning.

The United States Coast Guard, the Salisbury Police Department Drone Unit, and the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing Unit assisted in the recovery.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation by Newbury Police Department and detectives assigned to the DA's office.
