Boston Man Facing Murder Charge After Fatal Apartment Shooting

The Boston Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting, but an arrest has been made.

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing a murder charge after a person was fatally shot inside an apartment Wednesday evening, according to Boston Police.

Joseph Bailey, 20, of Dorchester, was identified as the suspect following an investigation into the shooting, which took place at approximately 5:39 p.m. at 7 Whitfield St. in Dorchester.

Officers initially responded to the apartment for a report of a person shot and found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries before he was later pronounced dead.

Police announced Thursday morning that Bailey had been identified as the suspect in the shooting and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a murder charge.

The identity of the victim has not been released. Police have also not yet released additional information about what led to the shooting or the relationship between Bailey and the victim.
