Fentanyl, Cocaine, And Cash Recovered Following Boston Investigation

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges after Boston Police recovered more than 100 bags of crack cocaine, dozens of bags of fentanyl and more than $3,000 in cash Tuesday following a foot pursuit.

Dale Clarke, 29, of Dorchester was arrested at approximately 6:12 p.m. after officers assigned to the citywide Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team saw a group gathered at an MBTA bus stop near Massachusetts and Harrison avenues. Police said officers were aware of multiple community complaints regarding illegal drug use inside area bus stops.

As officers approached the group, one person with an active warrant allegedly fled toward Harrison Avenue before being apprehended following a foot pursuit. Police said the person was determined to need assistance for drug abuse and was helped into a drug treatment facility.

According to police, Clarke allegedly began running toward Washington Street while clutching his waist and holding a fanny pack against his body. During the pursuit, police reportedly saw Clarke throw two large plastic bags to the ground before discarding the fanny pack between two parked vehicles.

Officers caught up with Clarke at Public Alley 715 and took him into custody. Police recovered 133 individually wrapped bags of crack cocaine weighing approximately 85 grams and 36 bags of fentanyl weighing approximately 35 grams. The discarded fanny pack also contained $3,392 in cash.

Clarke is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of trafficking cocaine between 36 and 100 grams and trafficking fentanyl between 18 and 36 grams.
