The juvenile tried not to catch the police's attention as they were conducting patrols in Roxbury.
BOSTON, MA — A teenager is facing multiple charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun during an investigation in Roxbury last week.
The 16-year-old was arrested at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, near Mount Pleasant Street and Dudley Street after officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force saw a person matching the description of a person believed to be carrying a firearm.
Officers were conducting directed patrols in the area as part of an ongoing firearm investigation following concerns raised by residents, local businesses, and community members. Many of the complaints involved a nearby playground that had been the subject of numerous 911 calls reporting suspected gang activity, drug use, and firearms, according to police.
