Teenager Charged After Loaded Handgun Seized In Jamaica Plain
The case was primarily handled by the department's Youth Violence Strike Force.
BOSTON, MA — A Jamaica Plain juvenile is facing multiple charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun during a traffic stop Thursday in Jamaica Plain.
The 14-year-old boy was arrested at approximately 12 p.m. near 612 Centre St. after officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force received information that he was carrying a firearm. Officers watched him leave a residence, get into a vehicle, and travel through the neighborhood before stopping the vehicle on Centre Street.
After ordering the teen out of the vehicle, officers reportedly recovered a Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition from his waistband, police said. The driver was identified and released at the scene.

According to police, the teen pushed an officer after tensing up while officers attempted to retrieve his cellphone. Officers regained control after a brief struggle.
The teenager is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on the charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, assault and battery on a police officer, and vandalism.
