BRAINTREE, RI — An "older adult" was rescued from a burning Braintree building but died at an area hospital, an official said.
Braintree firefighters responded to the house fire on Warren Avenue near Quincy Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Department of Fire Services Public Information Officer Jake Wark said in an email.

"One older adult was rescued from the home and transported to an area hospital, where that person was pronounced deceased," according to Wark.
The Braintree Fire Department, State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office, and State Police assigned to the Norfolk DA’s office determined that the fire began in the living room," Wark said. "Preliminarily, investigators are looking at candles and smoking materials as potential factors. The Department of Fire Services’ Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit found no working smoke alarms at the scene."
