Massasoit Celebrates $52M Renovation Milestones (high-profile.com) — Massasoit Community College has opened a new 26,000-square-foot Science Building and broken ground on a Health Science Building on its Brockton campus, marking a $52 million renovation halfway point. These modern, sustainable facilities will expand STEM and health programs, better prepare Brockton students for local careers, and support area hospitals and clinics with advanced training spaces.
   

2. Brockton man sentenced to 30 years in prison for videotaping sexual assault of 14-year-old girl (bostonglobe.com) — A Brockton man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, including in his Brockton home, and videotaping one of the attacks. Prosecutors described the abuse as deeply traumatic and long-lasting, while the defense cited the man's mental health decline after his wife's death in arguing unsuccessfully for a shorter term.
   

3. Crossroads celebrates 90 summers at Camp Wing (duxburyclipper.com) — Brockton families are central to Camp Wing's mission, as the Duxbury-based Crossroads program now serves about 750 kids each year, primarily from Boston and Brockton, with camp, mentoring, and college readiness support. Mark your calendar for their Sept. 14 golf tournament and Oct. 17 fall fundraiser, which help keep programs affordable so local kids can keep accessing these year-round opportunities.
   

4. Woman charged with murder in Taunton shooting that killed Brockton man, hurt 7 more (nbcboston.com) — A 25-year-old New Bedford woman has been charged with murder after a Taunton house-party shooting that killed 22-year-old Zirovick Depina, a Brockton man, and wounded seven others. Loved ones are mourning Depina as an open-minded young man who loved life, while neighbors and friends grapple with yet another example of young people affected by gun violence in southeastern Massachusetts.
