The work wrapped up in early August and was led by Inspectional Services, significantly changing conditions in that part of the park for nearby residents and visitors.
   

2. Trooper cited in cruiser crash that injured 2 in Brockton (wcvb.com) — A Massachusetts State Police trooper has been cited after a cruiser crash in Brockton earlier this month that left him and two people in another vehicle injured near Belmont Street. Investigators say Trooper Robert Ladue faces negligent operation and speeding citations, while one civilian victim suffered life-threatening injuries. Authorities haven't said whether the cruiser's lights were on and the DA's investigation continues.
   

3. Brockton man accused of attacking worker with machete during car repossession pleads not guilty (boston25news.com) — A Brockton man has pleaded not guilty after being accused of attacking a repossession worker with a machete on Curbe Street, seriously injuring the man's arm. Police say he then fled, leading officers on a chase to Canton before being arrested; he's being held on $10,000 bail and is due back in court September 10.

The article stresses that no Brockton provider has confirmed a breach yet, but urges patients and staff to stay alert for scams and highlights why local healthcare offices remain prime cyber targets.
   

5. Mass. couple accused in alleged $267,000 benefits fraud scheme (wcvb.com) — A Bridgewater couple has been arraigned in Brockton Superior Court, accused of fraudulently collecting more than $267,000 in state and federal benefits, including SNAP and MassHealth. Prosecutors say the pair misrepresented their household situation for years and also face separate charges tied to a GoFundMe campaign for an unhoused Bridgewater man. Both pleaded not guilty and are due back in court in September.
