Final Location Of Local Latin American Restaurant Chain Closing In Brookline: Report

Orinoco originally had three locations in the Boston area.

BROOKLINE, MA — The Brookline location of a Latin American restaurant is closing after nearly two decades, according to a report from Brookline News.

Orinoco originally had a total of three locations in Brookline, Boston, and Cambridge respectively. The spot at 22 Harvard St. was the last remaining, but is now reportedly closing its doors. The restaurant did not renew its food license for 2026 and revealed its plans to shut down to town leadership.

The ownership of the building where Orinoco resides — which is also the home to three other eateries — may be torn down by ownership in favor of housing developments. Real Estate Developer Richard Tuck has expressed his desire with town leadership to do so.

Andres Branger opened the first Orinoco location at 477 Shawmut Ave. in Boston in 2006. After early success, the business expanded with the launch of the Brookline location in 2009. Another three years later, Harvard Square opened its doors as well. The original location was the first to close in 2024, with the Cambridge spot following soon after in the next year.

Orinoco’s menu features traditional Venezuelan and Caribbean dishes such as Empanadas, pepitos, arepas, and salads.
