DANVERS, MA — A senior living community in Danvers has earned a credential recognizing its efforts to support LGBTQ+ older adults.
Charter Senior Living of Danvers received its SAGECare Credential, which the organization said reflects a commitment to providing an inclusive, welcoming and affirming environment for residents.
The recognition aligns with Charter Senior Living's mission to "Enhance the Human Spirit" by helping residents feel respected, valued and empowered to live with dignity and purpose.

The announcement comes as senior living providers place added focus on how care settings serve people with different identities, backgrounds and life experiences.
SAGECare awards credentials to senior living providers that demonstrate LGBTQ+ cultural competency through policies, staff education, resident support and inclusive operational practices.

The credential is intended to show that a community is working to create an environment where residents and their families can expect compassion, understanding and respect.
Charter Senior Living of Danvers said it pursued the credential through team education and ongoing cultural competency training. That work is part of a broader approach to person-centered care that honors each resident's identity, life experience and personal story.
