• Study finds Framingham MA Fire Department is 'greatly understaffed' (metrowestdailynews.com) — Framingham's firefighters union says a new study shows the city's fire department is significantly understaffed and often fails to meet national response-time and staffing standards, especially in western Framingham and Nobscot. Union leaders, the fire chief, and the mayor all acknowledge the problem but say fixing it will require phased hiring, new apparatus and stations, and difficult budget decisions from City Hall.

Here's why (metrowestdailynews.com) — Bellingham police will not renew their contract with Flock Safety's license plate reader system, citing contractual disputes and unease over new AI-powered search features. The move follows similar decisions in Natick, Cambridge, Watertown, Framingham, Stow and Hopkinton, where residents and officials have raised privacy concerns about how surveillance data is collected, shared and potentially misused.
