• Holyoke YMCA receives state earmark to upgrade locker rooms (thereminder.com) — Holyoke residents can now enjoy upgraded locker rooms at the Greater Holyoke YMCA, thanks to a $75,000 state earmark secured in last year’s budget. State Sen. John Velis joined YMCA leaders and local officials on June 10 to celebrate the improvements, which support a facility serving more than 6,000 people a year. Leaders say the refreshed, more peaceful locker spaces match the Y’s growing membership and community-focused mission. 
• Mass. workforce board discusses job market strategies (wwlp.com) — State workforce leaders gathered at Dean Technical High School in Holyoke to review Massachusetts’ job market and plan strategies to strengthen the future workforce. Officials highlighted how Western Massachusetts’ economy, including the Pioneer Valley, differs from the eastern part of the state and stressed keeping local needs central in statewide workforce and training decisions.
