Brookline’s Awet Teame Reaches Top 10—Vote TODAY to Help Me Make the Top 5!

I made the TOP 10! 🎙️🏆 Voting is open NOW to help me reach the TOP 5 in the Top Host competition. Please cast your FREE vote TODAY!

I’m Awet Teame, your Precinct 4 Town Meeting Member, comedian, actress, writer, content creator, and voiceover artist. I’m also a former co-host on 1410 AM, The Bass of Boston. I’m competing for $25,000 and a podcast produced by iHeartRadio—and I’d love my Brookline community’s support!

Eritrean roots. Boston-raised. Emerson graduate. Big podcast dreams!

My journey has taken me from stand-up stages in LA to Boston, with appearances in Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood, Syfy Channel’s Total Blackout, and Ghostbusters (2016)—the deleted scenes! 😂 My voiceover work includes Lyft ads in Massachusetts.

This competition also supports a mission close to my heart: the Ryan Seacrest Foundation’s work bringing interactive media studios into children’s hospitals. Funds raised through the competition help support the foundation and its work giving children opportunities to create, connect, and find joy during their hospital stays.

I know how much a creative outlet can mean to a child. When my family moved to the United States, I spoke only Italian and Tigrinya. Adjusting to a new country and language was stressful. Children may adapt quickly, but that doesn’t mean the process is easy.

Performing in Alice in Wonderland and West Side Story in fourth and fifth grade gave me somewhere to channel that anxiety. Acting helped me express myself and build confidence. During that time, my grades went from C’s and B’s to straight A’s!

That experience is why I love what the foundation is doing. Children facing illness deserve opportunities to use their imaginations, express themselves, and have moments when their illness isn’t the center of their world. I believe deeply in what creativity can offer them.
