• Falling Concrete From An Overpass In Malden Closes Roadway (iheart.com) — Dartmouth Street in Malden is closed between Ramsdell Road and Garnet Street after concrete fell from the Florence Street bridge onto the roadway and vehicles. City and state officials are assessing the damage, detours are posted, and the underpass will stay shut until it's declared safe for drivers and pedestrians. 
• Schedule Confirmed for 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Second Qualifying Round (ussoccer.com) — One of the 2027 U.S. Open Cup qualifying matches will be played at Malden Catholic High School, bringing national amateur soccer stakes right into town. The broader schedule features 63 games nationwide in early October as clubs compete for limited spots against professional teams in next year's tournament proper.
• Mass. reports 8th human West Nile virus case as risk remains high across Boston area (masslive.com) — Malden is currently classified as a high-risk community for West Nile virus, along with several nearby cities, as state officials confirm the eighth human case this year. Residents are urged to use insect repellent, cover up at dusk and dawn, and remove standing water around homes while mosquito activity remains elevated into the fall.
