📰 News we're reading

• 25 years later, Marblehead remembers — and looks to a generation that never knew 9/11 (marbleheadcurrent.org) — Marblehead residents gathered at Memorial Park on Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, honoring six locals lost in the attacks or subsequent wars and the first responders who served. Local police, fire, and veterans leaders stressed the town's responsibility to pass their memories and lessons of courage, unity, and service to a generation that only knows 9/11 as history.

• MHS golfers win opener against visiting Masco (marbleheadcurrent.org) — Marblehead High's golf team opened its 2026 season strong at Tedesco, edging Masco 40.5-31.5 behind standout rounds from several Magicians. The squad then swept three more home matches against St. Mary's of Lynn, Beverly, and Peabody, giving local fans plenty to cheer about early in the fall sports season.

• A call for tzedakah from the bimah (jewishjournal.org) — Two Marblehead congregations, Temple Emanu-El and Temple Sinai, explain how their High Holiday appeals are crucial for funding security, education, and year-round programming while keeping dues manageable. Leaders from Marblehead, Peabody, Gloucester, and elsewhere also share how they're encouraging tzedakah, adapting fundraising approaches, and emphasizing community, gratitude, and resilience during a challenging year.
