Selectboard candidate Patsios is connecting with the community

If you ask Charlie Patsios why he’s running for selectboard in Swampscott, you had better sit down. After years of public service on several of the town’s most impactful committees, Charlie knows what he’s talking about, and he has a lot to say. From wanting more funds for the DPW and the school department, to more personal issues like saving the General Glover House and the Hawthorne reuse project, you can tell all Charlie’s ideas are well thought through and articulated with sincerity. “I genuinely care about this town”, says Patsios, “this is where I chose to settle all those years ago with my lovely wife Mary and raise our family. I love Swampscott.”

In the business community, Charlie is known as a no-nonsense guy who gets things done and takes his work seriously. He also has a lighter and jovial side which comes across when you see him interacting with his friends and neighbors. “I’ve been known to get into it a little with people when it comes to town politics but that’s only because I feel very passionately about my opinions and the towns need for change.” In fact, Charlie’s campaign slogan is, “Charlie for change”, and his website is also, @charlieforchange.org. One of the things candidate Patsios would like to see change is the dynamic among town leadership. “I think we can all agree, we have a selectboard filled with wonderful human beings volunteering their time to help the town. But sometimes personalities can clash which harms productivity, and it’s really unfortunate when that happens in public view. I want to personally pledge that I will do everything in my power to help change that dynamic and work to create a more harmonious atmosphere among town leadership.”

You could say, one of the first steps candidate Patsios is taking toward a more harmonious outcome is the event he is hosting at Mission on The Bay this Thursday evening April 23 at 6PM. Aptly named, “Swampscott Pledge Night”, Mr. Patsios has invited all the candidates for selectboard and the entire community to come by Mission on the Bay for a fun night out and a good talk among friends. Charlie says, “just your presence there means you’ve taken the pledge because you cared enough to show yup.” The idea is, no matter who wins a seat in the upcoming election for the selectboard, we can all pledge to do our part to make the town one of the most desirable places to live in the commonwealth.
