Marlborough Police Officer Named Top Rider In Motorcycle Training Course

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough police officer has completed an intensive motorcycle training course and earned top honors in the class, according to the department.
Officer Nick Lessard recently finished the 80-hour Police Motorcycle Operator Course hosted by the Lowell Police Department, the Marlborough Police Department announced on Monday. Lessard was also recognized as the Top Rider in the class for his performance throughout the program.
The course was taught by certified members of the Lowell Police Motorcycle Unit and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council. Training focused on advanced motorcycle operation, including low- and high-speed maneuvers, obstacle navigation, formation riding and officer safety techniques, police said.

The training follows a nationally recognized curriculum developed by Harley-Davidson, Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety, and Texas A&M University.
Officer Lessard has served as a patrol officer in Marlborough's traffic services division for seven years, according to his LinkedIn profile. Marlborough police congratulated him on the accomplishment and said residents may soon see him patrolling city streets on a department motorcycle.
