Melrose Staple Summer Event Strolling Back Into Town
The downtown event is slated for next week.
MELROSE, MA — One of the city's biggest annual celebrations of local businesses is returning later this month, bringing an evening of live music, outdoor dining, and shopping to the city's downtown.
The 13th Annual Summer Stroll is scheduled for Friday, July 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hosted by the Melrose Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Melrose, the free event will once again close portions of Main and Essex streets to vehicle traffic while local restaurants, retailers, and other businesses welcome residents and visitors with special promotions, demonstrations, tastings, and family-friendly activities. Main Street will be closed between Upham Street and Grove Street, while Essex Street will be closed between Upham Street and Cerretani Way.
Multiple stages featuring local musicians will be set up throughout downtown, with this year's entertainment coordinated by Music Director Tim Kochanskis. Restaurants will expand onto the sidewalks for outdoor dining, while businesses will offer shopping specials and other activities designed to encourage visitors to explore downtown. Unlike a traditional street fair, the event does not feature outside vendors and instead highlights Melrose's existing restaurants, shops and small businesses.
