1. Decision may come soon on Chabad project on Central Avenue (needhamobserver.com) — A long-debated proposal to build a much larger Chabad center on Central Avenue in Needham is nearing a Planning Board decision, with deliberations expected to start October 6. Neighbors argue the project's size and parking fall far outside town zoning, while Chabad cites state Dover Amendment protections for religious uses and says further cuts would undermine its programs.
   

2. Partnership Awarded State Funding to Redevelop Needham Seniors Housing (connectcre.com) — Needham seniors living at the Linden Street Community can expect major improvements after a partnership including the Needham Housing Authority secured state funding to fully redevelop the complex. The project, to be renamed Linden Terrace, will modernize the 1960s–70s buildings with larger, fully accessible apartments and updated amenities as part of a record statewide affordable housing investment.
   

3. Girls Soccer Defeats Milton, Football Falls to St. John's Prep (needhamlocal.org) — Needham High's girls soccer team stayed perfect at home with a 2–0 shutout of Milton, rebounding quickly from their first loss and improving to 4–1. Football had a rough night at Memorial Field, falling 45–6 to powerhouse St. John's Prep despite a late touchdown. Both teams now turn their focus to upcoming road games at Walpole.
   

4. MBTA announces infrastructure work for October, Blue, Green lines impacted (winthroptranscript.com) — Needham commuters who rely on the MBTA's Needham Line should prepare for October service changes as the T undertakes major infrastructure and accessibility upgrades across several subway and commuter rail routes. While most details released focus on Boston and Green Line work, the agency warns that Needham Line riders will see schedule and service adjustments and encourages checking alerts before traveling.
