• Amid Falling State Overdose Deaths, Needham Vigil 'Still Needed' (needhamlocal.org) — Needham will host its fifth opioid overdose awareness vigil Thursday evening at the Memorial Park gazebo, with pink flags symbolizing lives lost and free NARCAN available from public health staff. Local recovery coaches, youth advocates, and families will share stories aimed at reducing stigma, connecting residents to support, and reminding the community that overdose prevention efforts remain critical despite falling statewide deaths.

• And the Results Are In… (needhamlocal.org) — Needham residents recently rated the town highly for safety, libraries, and public safety services in the National Community Survey, but expressed concern about local government and the cost of living. At the same meeting, the Select Board chose a background color for Needham's new town flag, which will hang at the State House alongside other Massachusetts municipalities.

• Quick-thinking kids help choking family member in Needham (wmur.com) — Two Needham children are being praised after quickly calling 911 when a family member began choking at home, allowing Needham police officers to arrive and successfully perform the Heimlich. Police say the incident shows why parents should teach kids how to call 911, share their address, and stay calm so emergency responders can find them fast during a crisis.
