New Shake, Smoothie Shop Opens Second MetroWest Location

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — A fast-growing protein shake and smoothie chain has expanded into Southborough.

Fresh Monkee, known for its made-to-order protein shakes, officially opened at 118 Turnpike Rd, Ste 101. The Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of MetroWest celebrated the business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 29.

The Southborough shop is Fresh Monkee’s second location in the MetroWest region, joining its store at 166 Milk St. in Westborough.

There are at least 10 Fresh Monkee stores in Massachusetts, including in Boston, Braintree, Brockton, Middleborough, and Worcester, with more coming soon.

The Southborough location began serving customers over the summer before holding a grand-opening celebration Sept. 26.

Fresh Monkee sells shakes prepared with milk, protein, fruits, vegetables and nut butters. Founder Judy Flynn opened the first Fresh Monkee in Wethersfield, Connecticut, in 2014.

The Southborough shop is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to the company’s website.
