Northborough announces Mental Health Awareness Month programs

Northborough Health and Human Services kicks off Mental Health Awareness Month with Wear Green Day on May 1.

This year's Mental Health Awareness Month theme, "More Good Days, Together," is a reminder that small steps, shared support, and meaningful connections can make a big difference in our everyday well-being. By looking out for one another, starting conversations, and prioritizing mental health, we can help create more moments of hope, resilience, and brighter days--for ourselves and our community.

Mental health awareness is important year round, but May gives Northborough Health and Human Services the opportunity to highlight resources and programs.

  • In conjunction with Southborough Youth and Family Services, everyone is encouraged to wear green on Friday, May 1. Green ribbons are available at Northborough Town Hall, Northborough Free Library and Northborough Senior Center all month while supplies last.
  • May 4: 6-7 PM. Expressive Art Therapy Presentation at Northborough Library with HHS Social Worker Caitlin Mitchell, LCSW. More info and to register
  • May 5: 12-12:30 PM. Creating a Healthier Northborough monthly webinar. Topic: Running on Empty: A discussion on stress, anxiety & burnout. Please register
  • May 6: 6:30-7:30 PM: Social Host Law Awareness presentation at Algonquin Regional High School Library, 6:30-7:30 PM. Learn about the social host law, what can happen as a result of underage drinking and how to celebrate prom, graduation and spring events safely. Presented by Encompass, Det. Stephen Sullivan and Atty. Richard Rafferty.
  • May 11: 12-12:30 PM. Mindful Monday with Erica at the Northborough Library. This 30-minute meditation will include a mindful walk around the library grounds, inviting us to slow down and fully experience the beauty of color, blossoms, and breath. As we gently open our senses to nature, we’ll cultivate presence, gratitude, and renewal. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll discover that beauty and calm are always available within us—wherever we are. Register
  • May 19: 6-7:30 PM. Free QPR Suicide Prevention Training at the Northborough Library. In 90 minutes, you will walk away feeling more confident in recognizing the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to Question, Persuade and Refer someone to help. QPR is the CPR of mental health. Please register
  • May 21: 7 AM-3:15 PM. Dana Farber's Mammography Van will be in town at the Northborough Library. Having peace of mind about your physical health, helps your mental health. Make your appointment
  • May 28: 9:30-10:30 AM. Moms Walk & Talk. Meet at Ellsworth-McAfee Park (Route 135) by the snack shack at 9:30 AM. Enjoy a relaxed opportunity to get outside, move your body, and connect with other moms in a supportive, judgment-free space. HHS Social Worker Caitlin Mitchell and Community Outreach Coordinator Liz Nolan look forward to meeting you. (weather permitting)
