• Horror on I-295: Reckless Speed Claims Two Massachusetts Lives in Rhode Island Crash (newbedfordguide.com subscription) — A Norton resident was one of two people who died after a high‑speed, wrong‑way crash on I‑295 in Cumberland, Rhode Island, on August 20. Police say a speeding Hyundai crossed the median and hit a Dodge Ram head‑on, trapping both drivers and snarling traffic, and they continue to investigate how excessive speed contributed to the tragedy.
