• ZBA denies kennel appeal (norwoodrecord.com) — Norwood's Zoning Board of Appeals has unanimously upheld a cease-and-desist order against a home-based dog day care on East Cross Street, ruling the operation can't be treated as a simple home occupation under town bylaws. Despite strong neighbor support and emotional testimony about the owner's care for local pets, board members said the property's residential use and kennel classification leave them no legal room to approve the appeal.
   

• ConCom talks Pezwick Park, Guild Pond (norwoodrecord.com) — Norwood residents are invited to an Oct. 8 public meeting at the Norwood Sportsman's Club to hear the first major update on the Guild Pond feasibility study and options for the aging dam. Conservation officials also outlined progress resolving wetlands violations near Pezwick Park and confirmed they'll again seek $25,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to help the town buy and protect open space.
   

• SchoolCom approves Mustang Sally retreat (norwoodrecord.com) — Norwood families will soon see a new fenced play and relaxation area for beloved police comfort dog Mustang Sally at Coakley Middle School, funded through a local Eagle Scout project. At the same meeting, the School Committee reviewed proposed changes to Norwood's free cash policy, debating how much flexibility town leaders should have when using reserves to balance future budgets and protect school services.
