• Pittsfield to close elementary school for high-needs students (wamc.org) — Pittsfield’s school committee has unanimously voted to close Morningside Community School, a high-needs elementary serving about 400 students, at the end of this school year. Officials cite long-term performance, building inadequacies, and equity concerns, alongside a $4 million budget shortfall. Students will be reassigned to other Pittsfield elementary schools, marking the city’s first school closure since 1985.

• Fried, Generals Down Minnechaug (iberkshires.com) — Pittsfield High’s baseball team rolled to a 12–3 road win over Minnechaug behind two home runs from Morrie Fried and strong pitching by Simon Mele. Coach Drew Pearce says the Generals now look ahead to a heavy home stretch at Clapp Park, starting Monday when they host Mount Anthony Union from Bennington, Vermont.
