• Reading Announces Hiring Of New Police Chief (patch.com) — Reading residents will soon see a familiar face leading their police department, as longtime officer and current Deputy Chief Christine Amendola has been selected as the next chief. A Reading officer since 2006 and a decorated U.S. Army veteran, she plans to focus on building a department where employees are proud to work and the community remains confident in its police services.

• Massachusetts towns launch free, on-demand electric rides to transit, shops, and care (thecooldown.com) — Reading residents can now use The Link, a free, on-demand electric microtransit service connecting Reading and Wakefield to shops, medical facilities, and MBTA stops for at least a year. Funded by a state grant and operated by Circuit, the service aims to cut travel costs, reduce emissions, and make everyday trips easier without needing a personal car.
