Salem-Scottish Ties Sealed With Official Letter Confirming Bond (patch.com) — Salem residents are being recognized all the way in Scotland after Mayor Dominick Pangallo wrote to the Scottish First Minister thanking visiting fans whose World Cup celebrations energized the city's streets and landmarks. The First Minister's warm reply praised Salem's hospitality and noted how these new friendships deepen ties between Scotland and the U.S. during the city's 400th anniversary year.

Salem To Host Voices of Belonging Event At Palmer Cove Park (patch.com) — Salem is inviting neighbors to Palmer Cove Park on Sept. 5 for a free Salem 400+ Voices of Belonging celebration featuring local artists, food, and youth poetry. The event highlights stories from Salem's neighborhoods, especially the Point, and includes guided tours of North Shore CDC's Muñeca sin Rostro sculptures and a mini-tour of the Punto Urban Art Museum aboard the Salem Trolley.
   

3. Salem To Host Annual Longest Table Community Meal (patch.com) — Salem neighbors are being invited to share a free community meal at the third annual Longest Table on Salem Street, highlighting local conversations about food access. With catering by Root, desserts from Gillian's, and tours of the Salem YMCA GreenSpace garden, the event aims to connect residents while spotlighting how people in Salem obtain healthy food.
   

4. Salem's Bates Elementary Awarded $20K Cummings Foundation Gift (patch.com) — Bates Elementary School in Salem has received a surprise $20,000 gift from the Cummings Foundation, announced at this week's School Committee meeting. Principal Sue Faria-Smith says the flexible funds will support the Bates community, including a schoolwide "Amazing Hero Art" assembly that promotes kindness and empowerment, at a time when school budgets are tight.
   

5. See Annabelle by flashlight: Warrens' 'haunted' collection leaves Connecticut for Salem (rep-am.com) — A major new haunted attraction is opening at 259 Essex Street, bringing the famed Annabelle doll and more than 1,000 Warren occult artifacts to Salem through Christmas. The flashlight-only, 12+ museum experience has mostly sold-out early dates, follows Salem City Council discussions, and has stirred debate among residents and nearby business Blackcraft Salem over the controversial nature of the collection.
