• The Columbus Day Massacre at the Cape Cod Canal (onthewater.com) — Cape Cod Canal legend Carl Johansen recalls an epic 2005 striped bass blitz that drew anglers shoulder-to-shoulder from Sagamore Bridge to the East End. One of the standout fish, topping 38 pounds, was landed by Sandwich resident Bob Lubold, underscoring how local anglers helped define this unforgettable day on the Ditch.
   

• Barbara Mae Ames (atholdailynews.com) — Sandwich residents are mourning the passing of 94-year-old Barbara Mae Ames, a longtime town resident deeply involved with the Sandwich Sirens, Sandwich Band Boosters, and local bingo circles. Visiting hours and funeral services will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich on April 19 and 20, with burial to follow in Bourne.
