Shrewsbury To Open 6 New Eaton Pond Trails, Dedicate Bridges
The project is intended to improve neighborhood access and advance the committee's plan to connect more areas of town.
SHREWSBURY, MA — A new network of trails will soon give residents greater access to the woods and wetlands surrounding Eaton Pond.
The Shrewsbury Trails Committee will officially open six trails and dedicate two bridges at 10 a.m. Saturday, near the Leonard Parkway entrance off Walnut Street. The project is intended to improve neighborhood access and advance the committee’s plan to connect more areas of town.
The six easy trails cover a combined 1.2 miles across approximately 40 acres of town land. The property, located near Dean Park on Shrewsbury’s east side, includes rivers, wetlands, meadows and woods and has six entrances.

The trails took about a year to complete, including planning, Conservation Commission approval and hundreds of volunteer hours, according to the committee.
“The completion of these bridge and trail projects provides easy foot access to an oasis for many neighbors in this compact neighborhood,” Trails Committee Chair Stephen Hess said. “This is a continuation of our master plan to enrich the neighborhood and connect the town. The opening of Eaton Pond Trails accomplishes both.”
