The application is tied to the proposed redevelopment at 525 Hartford Turnpike. That project includes two five-story apartment buildings with 250 units and a roughly 12,000-square-foot commercial building, according to the project’s site plan and special permit application report.

The Route 20 and Stoney Hill Road intersection is currently unsignalized and under MassDOT jurisdiction, according to a February 2026 traffic impact study posted on the town’s 525 Hartford Turnpike project page. That study also says sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian ramps are not provided within parts of the intersection area.
