• Stockbridge budget to rise 4.7% as town expands fire, EMS services (berkshireeagle.com) — Stockbridge’s newly approved $14.05 million budget will raise overall town spending by 4.7 percent next year, largely to expand shared fire and EMS services with West Stockbridge, while aiming to hold the average tax bill increase to about 2.5 percent. Officials highlight strong reserves, a long-range capital plan, and upcoming May town meetings where voters will weigh ambulance funding and other warrant articles.
   

• Tri-Town Boards of Health weigh policy banning tobacco product sales for future buyers (theberkshireedge.com) — Stockbridge’s Tri-Town Board of Health is weighing a Nicotine Free Generation policy that could permanently bar anyone born after a set date from ever buying tobacco locally. At an April 8 presentation, health experts outlined how the policy targets youth addiction while sparing current legal users, and Tri-Town members from Stockbridge, Lee, and Lenox debated its effectiveness and enforcement for local retailers.
