• Matthew Farwell trial to test prosecution's theory that pregnancy led to killing (newsnationnow.com) — A former Stoughton police officer, Matthew Farwell, is heading to trial this week, accused of killing 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore in 2021 after an alleged yearslong sexual relationship that began when she was a teen in a department-run program. Prosecutors say multiple Stoughton officers abused Birchmore, and Farwell now faces federal charges that could bring life in prison or the death penalty if he's convicted.
