Soldier On owns and operates the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community, 21-units of supportive affordable housing for formerly homeless veterans at 1660 Main Street in Tewksbury.
Soldier On is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness among veterans. Since 1994, we have provided transitional and emergency housing alongside critical supportive services—case management, medical and dental care coordination, mental health and addiction treatment, financial literacy education, and transportation assistance.
For more than three decades, Soldier On has been “Changing the End of The Story” for veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by delivering—and coordinating—an extensive continuum of housing and support services.
To reach veterans where they are, Soldier On also operates a mobile, door-to-door outreach program through Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), serving veterans and their families across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Massachusetts. Since 2011, nearly 40,000 veterans have received case management, referrals, and temporary financial assistance to help stabilize their housing.
Across our affordable housing communities, Soldier On currently provides housing and wraparound support services to 525 veterans. We promote long-term stability through on-site supportive services, transportation assistance, wellness services, legal support, and end-of-life care.
Core Values
·Service. We put veterans first in everything we do. Just as they served our country, we serve them—with dedication, respect, and unwavering commitment.
·Dignity. Every veteran deserves to be treated with honor and respect. We recognize the sacrifice they've made and approach our work with humility and reverence for their service.
·Action. We are doers. We meet veterans where they are—literally and figuratively—providing hands-on support that creates real, measurable outcomes.
·Community. No veteran should face homelessness alone. We build connections between veterans, families, service providers, and community resources to create lasting support systems.
·Hope. We believe in the resilience and strength of every veteran. Our work is grounded in the conviction that with the right support, every veteran can rebuild their life and achieve stability.
