Former MA Doctor Indicted On 81 Sexual Assault Charges Involving Patients

MASSACHUSETTS — There are new developments in the case against a former doctor in Massachusetts, who was indicted last year on charges that he raped two female patients.

Derrick Todd, 52, of Wayland, is now facing more than 80 charges, including rape and indecent assault and battery, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced on Tuesday.

Todd is accused of grooming 22 women aged 17 to 56 years old over a five-year period, "who entrusted themselves to Dr. Todd's care," according to the DA.

This comes just a few weeks after the Middlesex District Attorney's office announced that 11 new female victims, who ranged in age from 20 to 60 years old, had come forward accusing Todd of rape and sexual assault. This all occurred between 2021 and 2023 while acting as a rheumatologist and primary care physician at Charles River Medical Associates, according to the DA.

Todd was also accused of conducting unnecessarily excessive pelvic and breast examinations, as well as performing procedures where he lacked appropriate training and certification, the DA said.

In some instances, Todd assaulted the women under the guise of legitimate medical treatment, including purported pelvic floor therapy, all while he was not qualified to perform that type of therapy, according to the DA.
