WAYLAND, MA — Wayland has secured a new round of grant funding for public safety, clean transportation, recycling and infrastructure projects.
The town received five grants totaling $547,750.39 over the past several months, town officials announced Tuesday. The money will support traffic enforcement, an electric police vehicle, a charging station, waste-reduction programs and wastewater planning intended to facilitate housing and economic development.
The largest award is a $495,000 MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant for design and engineering work aimed at removing wastewater infrastructure constraints in Wayland’s MBTA Communities district and Town Center.

Three grants came through the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection:
- $13,559.19 to purchase an electric vehicle charging station for the Wayland Public Safety Building
- $7,500 toward the purchase of an electric police vehicle
- $7,800 for programs and policies that increase reuse and recycling and reduce waste
The $7,500 vehicle grant follows a separate $15,000 award for an electric police vehicle included in a $100,475 Green Communities grant announced in August.
“These grants provide valuable funding to advance important projects, strengthen our services and support town initiatives,” Town Manager Michael McCall said.
McCall thanked the Police Department, Information Technology Department, Sustainability and Facilities staff and the Department of Public Works for securing the awards.
