• Barbara Mae Ames (atholdailynews.com) — Whitman readers may remember Barbara Mae Ames, who grew up in town, graduated from Whitman High School, and later worked in area businesses and town hall during voting seasons. The longtime Sandwich resident, remembered for her kindness and civic spirit, passed away at 94, with visiting hours and funeral services scheduled in Sandwich and burial in Bourne early next week.
