Early Secures Democratic Nomination For Worcester County DA
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. secured the Democratic nomination Tuesday after running unopposed.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. secured the Democratic nomination for another term Tuesday after running unopposed in the state primary.
Early was the only candidate on the Democratic ballot for district attorney in the Middle District, which covers most of Worcester County. The Secretary of the Commonwealth listed no Republican candidate for the office, leaving Early without a major-party opponent heading into the Nov. 3 general election.
Early has led the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office since taking office in 2007. The office prosecutes cases across Worcester County and in Bellingham, serving 60 municipalities.
Early was elected president of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association in November 2024, a role he had previously held in 2012. The association said his prevention programs had reached more than 700,000 young people and seniors and that his Prevention and Support Network included more than 700 community members.
He has said the office’s two goals are “tough and fair prosecutions” and preventing crime through community programs.
Polls closed at 8 p.m. Election-night totals are unofficial and remain subject to local certification, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
