Off-Duty Worcester Police Officer Found Dead, Woman Sought
Worcester police are looking for 58-year-old Karen Solomon, who is presumed to be "armed and dangerous" following a death at her home.

WORCESTER, MA — An off-duty Worcester police officer was found dead at a Wildwood Avenue residence Tuesday morning as authorities searched for a woman considered "armed and dangerous."
Worcester police responded to the residence at about 5:28 a.m. for a report of a person down, Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said in a press conference on Monday. The deceased man was later identified as an off-duty Worcester police officer.
Authorities are searching for Karen Solomon, 58, who was last seen walking toward Westcott Street.
Chief Saucier said Solomon is presumed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees her should not approach her and should call Worcester police at (508) 799-8606 or 911.
Solomon is described as white with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pajama shorts and a tank top.
Police previously said the death occurred at Solomon’s residence. Authorities have not disclosed her connection to the officer or provided details about how he died.
Numerous agencies are assisting with the search, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, several Massachusetts State Police units, and all available Worcester Police Department resources, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early said during the press conference.
Chief Saucier asked for privacy for the officer’s family and said additional information would be released after the active operation concludes.
