Worcester DPW Employee Named 2026 Moosey Award Recipient

WORCESTER, MA — A city employee has been named the 2026 recipient of the Paul J. Moosey Employee of the Year Award, a city honor recognizing exceptional dedication within the Department of Public Works.

Aaron Green, an asset manager in Worcester’s Sewer Division, was honored during a ceremony on Friday at DPW Headquarters. City officials attended the event, including Mayor Joseph Petty, City Manager Eric D. Batista, District One Councilor Tony Economou, District Two Councilor Robert Bilotta and Councilor-at-large Satya B. Mitra.

The annual award was created in honor of the late Paul J. Moosey, a longtime Worcester Department of Public Works commissioner who served the city for 36 years. Moosey was widely respected for his quiet commitment to public service and his efforts to improve safety and quality of life across Worcester.

In announcing this year’s award, the city said the recognition is given each year to a DPW employee who demonstrates the same passion and dedication Moosey brought to the job throughout his career.

“Moosey was never one to seek accolades, praise, or public attention,” the city said in a statement. “Unassuming and ever modest in his approach, he simply went about the work of making Worcester a better, safer place for all who live, work, and visit the city.”

Green serves as an asset manager within the Sewer Division, a role focused on maintaining and monitoring critical city infrastructure. Sewer Division employees oversee systems essential to public health, stormwater management and everyday city operations.
