Worcester EMS Promotes Longtime Leader To Captain

Joe Kuchinski brings experience as a medical provider, educator and leader to the position.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Emergency Medical Services has promoted a captain in the department's operations division.

Worcester EMS Lt. Joe Kuchinski accepted a promotion to captain, the department announced on Friday. He brings experience as a medical provider, educator and leader to the position.

Kuchinski has worked as a paramedic lieutenant since Nov. 2014, according to his LinkedIn. He also previously led the Field Training group and commanded the Worcester EMS Honor Guard.

Department officials said Kuchinski’s willingness to assist and teach others will make him a resource for field personnel and administrators.

Worcester receives hospital-based emergency medical services through UMass Memorial Health. The city’s emergency medical system handles about 40,000 calls annually, according to officials.
