Worcester Man Dies Following Fatal Crash

A 62-year-old died after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday.

WORCESTER, MA — A 62-year-old Worcester man died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night on Hope Avenue, according to police.

Officers responded to the area near 137 Hope Ave. at about 9:16 p.m. on Sunday after Worcester Police Communications received a report of a pedestrian crash.

The victim, identified as James McGuire of Worcester, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that McGuire was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by the vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

Police have not released additional information about the driver or said whether any charges are expected.
