Worcester Renames Elementary School Ahead Of Super Bowl LX

May Street School will be temporarily renamed to "Maye Street School" to celebrate the New England Patriots as they head to the big game.

WORCESTER, MA — An elementary school in Worcester is going by a different name temporarily, all to honor the New England Patriots as they head to Super Bowl LX this weekend.

May Street School has been renamed "Maye Street School" in honor of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Worcester Public Schools Superintendent Brian E. Allen officially changed the name, as announced in a declaration presented to the school's principal, Luke Robert, during Thursday's district-wide principals meeting.

An "e" was added to the May Street School sign at 265 May St. to mark its temporary name.

“This is an exciting time for our students, staff, and school communities as the Patriots return to the Super Bowl,” said Superintendent Allen. “For years, we watched Tom Brady and the team play at the highest level, and now our kids in Worcester can see Drake Maye and this year’s team doing the same. Moments like these can really inspire our students to dream big and work hard.”

This comes after a nearby town, Maynard, temporarily changed its name to "Mayenard" to honor the quarterback, according to a CBS Boston report.

The Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos on Jan 23, securing their spot in Super Bowl LX. New England is set to lace up against the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara, California. The NFL championship will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
