WORCESTER, MA — A longtime Worcester hot dog landmark is getting some national attention.

George's Coney Island Hot Dogs was included in a USA Today Network list of the best hot dogs in America. The Worcester restaurant was featured alongside hot dog spots from across the country.

"Have you ever had a Coney Island hot dog? If not, then you should definitely venture to George’s Coney Island in Worcester," Joanna K. Tzouvelis, Wicked Local writer, wrote in the USA TODAY list.

George's has been serving hot dogs in Worcester for more than a century. The Southbridge Street lunch counter dates to 1918, and Catherine and George Tsagarelis later turned it into the landmark restaurant known for its hot dogs, wooden booths, old-fashioned juke box and neon sign.

The restaurant's Coney Island-style hot dogs are known for meat sauce, mustard and onions. George's says its chili sauce, historic interior and long local following have helped keep the business running through generations.
