Worcester Schools Canceled For A Second Day As Winter Weather Emergency + Parking Ban Remain In Place

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Public Schools will be closed for the second day in a row, the school district announced on Monday.
This comes as a major blizzard hits Massachusetts, with Worcester receiving a foot of snow as of Monday afternoon, while some parts of Worcester County are seeing more than 17 inches.
Snow began falling in the Bay State late Sunday night, and the storm ramped up in the pre-dawn hours of Monday. Wind gusts in Worcester County also soared to 40 mph.

Worcester Public Schools announced that all schools and administrative offices would be closed on Tuesday. Only essential personnel are to report, and non-essential personnel should stay home.

Head Start and after-school activities will also be cancelled on Tuesday.
This also comes after students had a week off for President's Day and February Vacation.
Buildings Closed, Meeting Changes
Worcester Municipal Buildings will also remain closed on Tuesday during normal business hours. However, City Hall will reopen for the City Council meeting at 5 p.m.
Other public meetings will also be affected as a result of the closures, including:
- The Advisory Commission on Youth will meet virtually at 3 p.m.
- The Standing Committee on Public Works’ meeting at 5 p.m. is cancelled
- The Community Preservation Committee meeting will take place virtually at 5:30 p.m.
The Winter Weather Emergency and Declared Parking Ban will also remain in effect until further notice, according to the city.
