Worcester Teams Up With Holy Cross To Offer Summer Program For Local Artists

This marks the third year of the program at The Prior Performing Arts Center.

WORCESTER, MA — The City of Worcester has teamed up with a local college to offer a summer program for local artists.

The Worcester Cultural Coalition announced on Monday that it will continue its program with the College of the Holy Cross to offer summer residencies for local artists or artistic groups. The program is also run through Worcester’s Cultural Development Division.

This marks the third year of the program named "HC x WCC: Creative Residencies for Worcester Artists" at The Prior. This year, the city will offer additional opportunities for local artists, according to the city.

The arts can include theater, dance, music, media, film/video, literature, visual arts, and interdisciplinary arts.

Each selected artist or group will receive a $2,500 stipend and up to $1,000 in additional financial support. In previous years, local artists had the opportunity to craft film and musical works through this fund.

The 2026 residency cycle will offer four local artists or artistic companies with physical and financial resources during a paid summer residency at The Prior Performing Arts Center. The facility at 1 College St. consists of a 400-seat concert hall, a 180-seat flexible theater, with studios and multi-use spaces.

“For the third year, this partnership with the Prior Performing Arts Center continues to be one of the most meaningful investments we make in Worcester’s creative community,” said Worcester's Cultural Development Officer and WCC Executive Director Fabian Barracks in a. “We have seen firsthand the real impact this program has had on Worcester creatives and how it has strengthened their practice, expanded their networks, and deepened their connection to the community. As we grow the program this year to support even more artists, we know this investment is not only shaping individual careers but enriching Worcester’s cultural life as a whole.”

Applications from solo artists or groups are open now and due by Mar. 21 at 5 p.m.
